Roses, Roses, Roses

Here are 3 cards I made using the Rose Wonder stamp set and Rose Garden Thinlits from Stampin' Up!'s new 2016 Occasions Catalog. The layout of each card is the same, I just used a different combination of the stamp set and the thinlits on each one.

This card focuses on just the use of the stamp set. I heat embossed the rose and leaves, then used sponge daubers to color them.

On this card, I simply took the thinlits image and mounted it on the card.

The rose and leaves on the final card is a combination of the stamp set and the thinlits. It was created as a result of my initial idea, then my next idea, not working out the way I'd imagined either of them. First, I heat embossed the image and colored the leaves with my sponge dauber.

My initial idea for the rose was to fill in the embossed space with the negative pieces from the thinlits rose. However, since the thinlits rose frame is thicker than the stamped image, I was left with white spaces between the rose paper piece and the embossed frame. So, I thought I'd try to fill in that area using another new item from the Occasions Catalog - Wink of Stella.

Well, I ended up getting a puddle of gold instead of a thin line. Which lead me to just cover all of the rose pieces with the Wink of Stella. But I was still left with the white space! To cover that white space, I simply cut another rose frame from the Rose Garden Thinlits and placed it over the rose. I do like the gold shimmer that now sits on top of my Bermuda Bay rose.

Do you like one version than the others? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Until next time.....

July 31 Stamp Camp Class

Whew, what a day yesterday was! I had 9 wonderful ladies attend my stamp camp class where they made four cards. There were some challenges as I introduced at least two new techniques and a fun fold card.

This card incorporated a new technique to create the watercolor-look background as well as being a fun fold card. It also used the Watercolor Wings stamp set for the butterfly that required stamping the butterfly with a total of FIVE stamps.

This is the card that I designed and made over 100 of to take to the recent Stampin' Up! Convention in Salt Lake City. This card uses 8 different color inks. When I first made it, I thought it was a pretty simple card to make in a large quantity. But once I started making them, I realized that while it was basically a simple card there was a lot of stamping required to complete it. I used the Awesomely Artistic and Lots of Joy stamp sets for this card.

I had received a card using this layout from a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I changed the colors and a couple of other things from what she had done. For this card, I used the Gorgeous Grunge, Papillon Potpourri and Wetlands stamp sets.

The cluster stamping technique was used on this card. I took a lot of simple photopolymer stamps from several different stamp sets to create one large 'cluster stamp'. The dragonfly and flower background are from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set. The Boho Chic embossing folder was used on the larger circle.

I sure hope the ladies enjoyed making these cards and weren't too overwhelmed during the process. I didn't hear too many complaints as they were hard at work, so either they were too focused on making their cards to say anything or they liked what they were doing.

Please leave me a comment sharing your thoughts on these cards or if I can provide you with more information on making them. You can also contact me if you are interested in information on my upcoming events, purchasing Stampin' Up! products through me, hosting your own Stampin' Up! event, or even becoming a Stampin' Up! demonstrator.

I'm here to help you 'stamp 4 fun'....

3 x 3 Note Cards and Matching Envelopes

These are some simple 3 x 3 note cards that I made. I really like to try and use as much of my paper as I can. On these cards, I used the Hello You Thinlits for the 'hello'. Once I had the 'hello' for the card on the bottom, I used the negative image and the little pieces from the hello to create the 'hello' on the top card.

I used a coordinating piece of designer specialty paper to make the matching envelopes for the cards.

Please leave a comment below if you have any questions on these cards.

Over the Rainbow

I used the Over the Rainbow stamp set and the masking technique to create this colorful card.

Using a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then I used a post-it note to cover (mask) the sentiment. With the rainbow arch stamp I stamped the colors of the rainbow (Real Red, Tangerine Twist, Daffodil Delight, Cucumber Crush, Pacific Point, Island Indigo, and Elegant Eggplant) over the masked area. Once the colors were stamped, I removed the mask.

Using the Bitty Butterfly punch and a scrap piece of Real Red card stock, I punched the butterfly which I attached with a glue dot. I could have used rhinestones for the butterfly bling but I chose to use Silver Dazzling Details.

Finally,  I took a 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" sheet of Cucumber Crush card stock and folded it in half to create a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base. I mounted the stamped piece onto the front of this card base giving the results shown in the picture.

I'd really like to hear what you think of this card, so please leave me a comment below.

Scraps and Festive Flurry Flower

I have been trying to use some of the "mis-stamped", pre-punched, scrap pieces, etc. that I have sitting around my crafting area. I was able to use several of these items on this card. I used some of my 1/4" wide scrap strips to create a background. I simply lined them up diagonally across my card front.

I have also been trying to come up with other ways to use the Festive Flurry stamp set besides as snowflakes. Since, I was using Summer Starfruit as my card base color, I stamped one of the medium sized 'flakes' in the same color. I soon discovered that my previously punched Boho Blossoms pieces matched the center of this stamp perfectly!

I layered everything up and stamped my sentiment using the Petite Pairs stamp set. I can definitely say that I will be making more cards using this scrappy background and changing the focal piece to make a card for any occasion.

More Five-Way Flowers

I had some extra Five-Way Flowers already stamped and punched so I decided to get them made up into cards. Again, here are the pieces that I started with:

As I began trying to decide what to make, I can across two sketches/challenges that I could use my flower pieces with. First, was Freshly Made Sketches #126:

And my card:

The other sketch challenge was Connie and Mary - Sketch Challenge CCMC293:
